RIP, the monster

Well, I hate to say it, but the monster is officially out of commission. Despite the repair job, it hasn't improved, at all. :P

And, lemme expand on the last journal. I said it was overrun and pretty much busted by viruses, right? Well, here's why: My copy of Norton Antivirus was a trial version, apparently, and it had expired a month before.

Now, hold your horses: Imagine how wrong that sounds after I tell you I bought that copy of Norton from a Wal-Mart, paid in ~50$ cash, taken home, and installed from a CD. That was supposed to be a trial version?! Mind you, I followed the install instructions down to a T. I made sure. I had this OCD feeling that something would go wrong if I overlooked anything.

A month ago is about the time when the monster started experiencing slowdown, so it all makes sense. I suspected Norton, but for a different reason. I'll be darned. :x

Norton is stupid and over rated i think... but thats just me, now my Norton has been expired for way longer than that but the only thing im not protected from (which it wants me to spend $50 to get which is utterly ridiculous) is credit card security.. i dont own a credit card, and yet even when my norton is "expired" its still working with firewall spyware and virus protections... *salutes to the monster*

My dad stopped using Norton several years ago, because it fucked up one of his computers. You can get much better virus protection from free off the internet anyway. But yeah, Norton sucks, and I'm fairly certain that's the general consensus of the internet.

...you should let WalMart know, because if you were unaware of it being a trial version, that's not fair at all.
They pretty much ripped you off...but that's really crappy...I hate Norton. I'm glad I stopped using it anyways >.>

If there's nothing wrong with the hardware, you can always just format it... Before I dumped windows I used to run AVG anti-virus, because it was free. It worked well, too.

I don't know what it is with this young generation and viruses... In all the years I ran windows I never got a one!

my virus protecton is Avast antivirus... i used to have a ton of problems but once i switched from my old antivirus to avast, well i've had that on my computers for a year or two now... no viruses yet!

It's weird, isn't it? I promised myself I'd take good care of the monster. But suddenly out of the blue we get a bitchload of viruses and that's the end of the monster's history. I don't know if I'm just jinxed or what. :/
